I’m really bad at puzzles. So bad. Like Winston-from-New-Girl

bad. But I actually really enjoy puzzles. Puzzles are the best way to escape for a few hours. Not looking a screen for an extended period of time is the most soul-filling thing.
I love how Annie encourages us to look at our lives at the tiny piece of a much-bigger puzzle. Want to succeed at work? Don’t show up late. Don’t talk back to your boss.
I want to be a sports anchor in the Twin Cities. I need to cover as many events down there as I can. That way I can meet people who may be eventually able to help me achieve that dream.
I want to run a marathon in the spring. I need to not flake on getting those daily shorter runs in.
When I was in college, I almost accepted an eight-month-long “internship” at Disney World. “Internship” because you’re basically a ride operator or a custodian. I remember my friends being VERY honest with me in wanting to pursue that job.
“How is that going to help you be a sports anchor?”
They showed me that the better path was to turn it down and instead look for jobs in sports. And a few months later, I was accepting an on-air sports job in Washington.
It’s those little decisions that you make on the regular that will lead to the much-bigger picture.
