The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. —PROVERBS 18:21 NIV

I woke up being extremely unkind to myself... the past three or so days have been nuts. I travelled back and forth from the Twin Cities covering the Vikings solo. Which is awesome... but the key word in there is SOLO. Not only am I on an island by myself to get all the work done, I have equipment and bags that weigh more than the weights I lift in yoga sculpt.
So this morning when I woke up... the first things that ran through my mind were ALL the things I still had to get done.
- Gotta call this person
- Make this appointment
- Prep for that interview
- Go for that run cause you're looking a bit chunky this morning
- YOUR BLOG IS THREE DAYS BEHIND
So then I go into attack mode on myself:
- "You're not smart enough to take all this on."
- "Maybe if people liked you more they would offer to help... but they don't."
- "You're overambitious, scale it back because you're not capable of it all."
- "Other people that are so much better than you are doing much more so stop complaining."
I could truly go on.
So when I read today's reading... about being kind to yourself. Boy did that one hit.
Why are we so mean to ourselves? We were not meant to take on this life alone. It's more than okay that we can't handle it ourselves.
BE BRAVE: Write yourself a quick note and list three things you are thankful for about yourself. (Seriously. Do it.)
Downs, Annie F.. 100 Days to Brave (p. 27). Zondervan. Kindle Edition.
I am thankful for my heart. The lord has given me a great ability to feel for others.
I am thankful for my body and all it's capable of DOING not just how it LOOKS.
I am thankful for my work ethic. It has gotten me to some heights in life that I didn't ever imagine I'd be able to achieve. God has led me to a humble path that is paved with opportunities to work hard and do a good job.
Now YOU write down those three things OR MORE that you are thankful for about yourself.
