Prepare for Change (Day 52)

Writer: Kelly HinsethKelly Hinseth

***YES WE DID SKIP AHEAD. If you were counting, I got about 15 days behind the original schedule put out by Annie. SO we are skipping to day 52 and will circle back to the ones we missed at the end. The goal is to end on November 10th.***

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. - Hebrews 13:8

Be Brave: Write a prayer to God, thanking Him that He does not change. - 100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs.

You know what I don't like? Change. Never have, don't think I ever will.

My freshman year of college at Bethel University, everyone was packing up to leave our Nelson third floor for the summer. I sat in 327 on my black futon that had been passed down from brother to brother to me and realized I would NEVER be on the same floor with all of these ladies EVER again. So I went into my RA's room (no one was there), sat on the floor and BAWLED. For like 20 minutes.

To be fair, my best friend Rosie was transferring to BOSTON that following year. We were supposed to live in a suite with a few other girls from the floor. But through a series of events and actions that I regret to this day, we didn't end all up living together.

That was a tumultuous time in my young college life. Annie talked about friendship breakups in the last chapter. I wrote about them here.

I could write all this stuff about how change is good and we see God through the changes in our lives but the truth is that I am a 24 year old girl who has moved seven times through four different apartments in two different states in the last three years and I DO NOT LIKE CHANGE.

I celebrated living in the same apartment for the longest period of time (one full year) last month.

So I'll write this... God does not change. So we don't have to be "okay" or "fine" or "happy" with the change in our lives. We can be okay and trust that HE is the ONLY thing that will NEVER change.
