“BE BRAVE: Friend, are you hurting? Don’t run from it anymore.”
— 100 Days to Brave: Devotions for Unlocking Your Most Courageous Self by Annie F. Downs
I’m a biiiggg believer in therapy (she annoyingly says after only five months of therapy... kind of like those couples married for less than a year offering marriage advice. Yeah. You know who you are and you should stop cause we’re all making fun of you. Also in that category are parents that have been parents for five seconds offering parent advice).
Anyways, I’ve gotten a lot out of therapy. I’ve gotten a lot out of talking about things to other people. Or even just writing about it in my journal.
For me, facing the pain means getting it out of my head and writing it down or saying it.
So even if therapy isn’t for you (maybe just try it?)... but if it isn’t. Face your pain in other ways. Write it down and give it to God. Call a friend.
Facing it is better than running from it... trust me.
